PGT2D PROGRAMME EVALUATION
The Minister of State, Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, Chairman of the Steering Committee of the regional management programme for sustainable development (PGT2D) on Monday, 12 April 2010, presided at its fifth ordinary session.
Points on the agenda included, notably, the approval of the minutes of the fourth ordinary session, assessment of the state of implementation of this session’s recommendations and adoption of the execution draft (APE) for 2010. Deliberations ended with discussions and recommendations on the smooth execution of the programme for which Government attaches much importance.
It should be recalled that PGT2D which is four years old, was initiated by MINATD to develop administrative units, as part of the development and poverty reduction policy.

The Yaounde Mont Febe Hotel will, on 13, 14, and 15 April 2010, host the First Session of the By-Annual Conference of Regional Governors for 2010.

CIVIL PROTECTION
The Minister of State, Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization on a working visit to wum.
M. MARAFA HAMIDOU YAYA will be in Wum, Menchum Division of the North-West Region, on Sunday 21 March 2010,  accompanied by the Minister of Scientific Research and Innovation, Mme MADELEINE TCHUENTE. The Minister will visit Lake Nyos, preside over a session of the Steering Committee of the National Programme to Secure and Rehabilitate Lake Nyos and a simulation exercise. It should be recalled that Lake Nyos is the source of the disaster of August 1986 that left about one thousand eight hundred dead, and thousands of animals. Since then, measures put in place by public authorities with the support of various development partners, are all aimed at averting the recurrence of such a disaster.

TRANSBOUNDARY SECURITY: CAMEROON AND CAR ADOPT A COMMON ROAD MAP FOR 2010
At the end of the deliberations of the first ordinary meeting of Cameroon/CAR Permanent Joint Security Commission, held in Bertoua on 6 and 7 February 2010, the two parties have adopted a plan of action to control transboundary insecurity for the next twelve months. The joint communiqué issued at the end of the meeting in Bertoua presents the key resolutions.

TERRITORIAL COMMMAND: THE FIRST REGIONAL GOVERNORS ARE APPOINTED
The President of the Republic on Friday 5 February 2010, signed Decree No. 2010/040 to appoint Regional Governors. It is an important instrument in the sense that it concretizes the administrative reorganization of the State into Regions, in lieu and place of Provinces, in conformity with Decree No. 2008/376 of 12 November 2008 on the administrative organization of the Republic of Cameroon.  This Decree conforms to Decree No.2008/377 still of 12 November 2008 to determine the powers of heads of administrative units and to lay down the organization and functioning of their services.
